According to the Daily Telegraph, there are rumours that Alistair Darling is "considering emergency plans to print more money".
If true, this suggests that the UK Government's strategy for dealing with the current crisis have largely failed and that the only approach left is to adopt third world economic development policies.
The Weimar Republic anyone?

That is not an economic tool its a point of no return.
No wonder some people think you are also 'Pippa Wagstaff'.
The good thing about all this is, you Tories are confined to the same ever shrinking number of readerless blogs.
Like Cameron, you have nothing to say about the current economic difficulties and more importantly -no is listening to you either!
Keep up the good work - both you and Dylan!
eh, aren't you reading it, you Labour troll....
As for the usual 'banter' from a Labour surfer, it would seem that s/he still doesn't get the fact that the main reason for this blog is to test out a few ideas before I write my columns for the Western Mail and Daily Post, both of which probably have a slightly larger readership every week.
Of course, whether you read this blog (as you clearly do) is up to you.
As for Valleys Mam being a Tory or Pippa Wagstaff, obviously the commentator had a few too many sherbets at the Eli J. that afternoon :)
This makes you about 30 years old max!
...or are you trying to write him out of the history books?
More seriously, I want to re-check my assertion about the National Debt doubling in that period but am having difficulty accessing historical National Debt figures on the net. I can find monthly surpluses and deficits, and deficits as % of GDP but struggle to find the actual debt figures. Can you point to a website that gives this?
No time to look in detail but you could try the UK stats website - that should have the detail
