At a time when a whole spectrum of coalitions are being considered down the Bay, it may be worth re-reading the recent article by Hywel Williams in the Spectator, published a week before the election, which considered the options for a Plaid Cymru-Conservative administration.
It may make for uncomfortable reading for people in both the Conservative Party in Wales and Plaid Cymru.
However, we seriously need some political reality and good old fashioned common sense over the state of this nation to ensure a real alternative to yet another Labour-led administration.
Does Plaid Cymru, if it props up a Labour administration through the so-called 'New Zealand agreement', really believe that the same economic policies pursued by Rhodri and his probable successor, Andrew Davies, will make any difference to the prosperity of this nation?
Perhaps they should read the admittance reportedly made by the First Minister himself on his Government's lack of success in growing the economy?
Having political parties who are happy with being a 'responsible opposition' ain't good enough for this nation and the people who voted for those parties' policies.
If we want further powers for the Assembly then we need to grow up politically and move away from the old system of party politics. It is time for the non-Labour politicians to step up to the plate, show some political courage and grasp the opportunity to change the fortunes of this great country.
It can't be ignored any longer.

There does not appear to be anyone with the balls to make the right moves and maybe this won't happen until there is a generational shift to more enlightened views who can lead the other sheep in the right direction.
More importantly, why don't both parties tell the Conservatives exactly what they don't agree with in the Tory manifesto.
Do they disagree with cutting business rates, stopping the reconfiguration of hospitals, giving greater support to hill farmers and having a stronger Welsh language act.
No, they don't but guess what, Labour does.
Liek many other people. I wish they would get off their ideological high horses and do what's right for this nation. That's why people voted for them for god's sake.
They certainly didn't vote for them to keep Rhodri and his gang in power for another four years.
they seem more concerned about files and pencils
mind you some good civil servants may help and some who werent tried to a strategy of inertia
